Goddess Antheia

“Antheia’s themes are promises, friendship, trust, honor, community, love and relationships. Her symbols are gold colored items, honey and myrrh.  Since 800 B.C.E. Antheia has been known as the Greek Goddess of marriage, companionship and good council. These attributes manifested themselves in a triple Goddess figure who flowered, sought a mate and reached perfection. Today we ask Her to bless our rites by flowering within our souls so we too can obtain spiritual perfection.

“Antheia was one of the Charites, or Graces, of Greek mythology and ‘was the Goddess of flowers and flowery wreaths worn at festivals and parties.’ Her name is derived from the Ancient Greek word anthos, meaning flower, and She was depicted on vases as an attendant of Aphrodite with other Charites. She was known to the Romans as Anthea. Her center of worship was on the island of Crete.

Antheia was the Goddess of Vegetation, Lowlands, Marshlands, Gardens, Blossoms, the Budding Earth, and Human Love.”

I chose the Goddess Antheia because I love flowers. And by just looking at them bloom makes my mood lighter and I also remembered that during my childhood days, I usually make wreath that is made of flowers and put it on top of my head and walk like a Goddess/fairy. Those were my happy memories that I really want to go back to.

She is also known as the greek Goddess of companionship and good council. And Im that king of a person who values my companion and
always the one who gives advice to others especially to my friends.

Her theme also signifies myself as a friend who knows how to value our relationship/friendship and can be trusted by others.
I have an outgoing and caring personality, always willing to serve and bring joy to others just like Antheia.

And I believe that everyone of us is a Goddess.

Bio Poem

Minsan May isang puta

by: Mike Portes (Entry #2)

The Poem touches the soul of all the mothers. Minsan may isang puta expressed the pain and suffering of every mother for the sake of her child. It also dared two things: it addressed the moral and economic fibers of the Filipinos and second--it opened the moral consciousness of the people on the REALITY of poverty in the country.

Artwork: Vicente Manansala
If you read it further, it also represent the selfless love of a mother to her child. They are selfless but at the same time neglected. The writer showed the very clear reality that good mothers will "prostitute" themselves for there children even forgetting the risks and consequences they will face. It also addressed the passiveness of most children to the sufferings of their mothers.

the writer wrote the word "puta" which does not mainly embodied  about the physical prostitution but in the moral prostitution as well. It will inspire us to explore issues and not to judge based on the perimeters of our religious and cultural background.

The writer used to express in a narrative way were you can feel the dramatic effect in some of it's lines, for example:

"Ina ninyo ako! Pagmamahal nyo lang ang kailangan ko!”

You can feel the frustration and the disappointment of the mother to his children. The mother only wants the love of her children despite of her sacrifices just for them to have a good life.
It also symbolizes our country as our mother "Pilipina" (Pilipinas).

Upon reading this poem, especially the last part, Pilipinas nga pala.... I feel ashamed that even myself dont know how to contribute something to the Philippines. I felt guilty that I'm one of the people who keeps thinking about myself only and never thinks of our mother. but I hope every one will be aware of the situation of our country.

Why do I listen to music?

Music speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and gives it rest, heals the heart and makes it whole, flows from heaven to the soul.

Why do I listen to music?

I'm not a singer, nor a composer or even a musician. I'm just a girl who is just an avid fan of music where half of my life revolves in it. I listen to music because I can find relief and by listening to it brings heaven to my soul.

In music, you can travel your thoughts and get away from reality even just for a little while, all you do is just put your earphones on and play songs that are associated with your mood. In this case you can create your own world and enter in a dimension, a dimension that you can make your own choices in life.

Music takes me to places that can help free my mind from all the worries and dramas in life. It is also a way where I can have courage in facing my fears and eventually get through with it. Music is like my refuge, my other best friend that accompanies me whenever I'm happy, excited, angry and most especially when it is the darkest part of my life.

Music lightens my mood just by listening to it. I also can relate my self with the lyrics of the songs that I listen to. It utter words that are left unspoken.

Music never fails to entertain me whenever I’m bored and alone. My day won’t be complete without listening to it and singing along with it became my hobby.

I love music and Ill never get tired of it. just enjoy it and you can call it your safe haven.
